Surfing

Mack surfed really well yesterday at the regional surfing trials and came second. It was tricky conditions as there was barely any swell. He’ll now compete in the state titles at the end of August. Well done, Mack!Mack.jpg

Tennis

Alex Anderson Qld 13-18 Years State Tennis Team

Alex was chosen as a member of the Qld State Tennis team to compete at the National titles held in Bendigo, Victoria from 3-10 May.

The competition consisted of a Team Event and an Individual Event. Queensland finished the competition in fourth place behind NSW, Victoria and Western Australia. In singles, Alex only lost 2 matches. An excellent achievement competing against some highly ranked players in Australia.

In the singles event, Alex lost in the Quarter Finals of the consolation event. In this event, he beat one of the players he lost to in the team’s event.

Alex was very pleased with his level of play during the event, and he is looking forward to being a member of the team next year, which will be his final year of schooling.

Queensland Secondary Schools Tennis Teams Regional Open and Years 7-9 Competition.

On Monday, 2 June Grammar entered two Open Boys, one Open Girls, two Years 7-9 and one Years 7-9 Girls teams to compete at this highly competitive competition. The day was unfortunately rain-affected; however, results were able to be obtained in each division.

Both Open Divisions were very competitive and Grammar were successful in winning both events. Grammar was also successful in winning the Girls Years 7-9 event. The Boys Years 7-9 competition was very strong, with Grammar finishing in 3rd and 5th positions.

Both Open teams have now been invited to contest the State Championships to be held at UQ in Brisbane in July. The Girls Years 7-9 team will be invited to contest the State Championships in Rockhampton in September. More information will follow for this.

Well done to all players on their patience during the rain delays and the exemplary behaviour they displayed throughout the day.

Thank you to Coach Clint Fyfe and Mr Simon Groom for accompanying the teams and myself on the day.
