SECONDARY NEWS
FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Large Ensemble Showcase held by our music department. The obvious joy our students display whilst performing is a testament to the staff who spend countless hours developing their talents. I do want to congratulate our Music Department for all the incredible work they do with our students.
Our tennis students also competed in the Queensland Secondary Schools Tennis Teams Regional Competition last week. I am pleased to advise that our Senior Boys and Girls teams, along with our Junior Girls, have now qualified for the State competition.
The end of the term is fast approaching, next week is yet another short week with the Nambour Show holiday on the Friday. Parents are reminded that the school will not be open on Friday, June 13. On Monday, 9 June, the Secondary Athletics Carnival will be held at the University track. Students will be transported from school to the track from 8:30 am and will return to school by 3:00 pm. Students will be permitted to wear the House uniform to school. Students driving to the University track is discouraged as parking is very limited.
Due to the shortened term, our planned reporting deadlines for staff have needed to be adjusted, and accordingly, reports will be made available to families in the first week of the holiday break. I do apologise for this change. Unfortunately, the number of public holidays and a short nine-week term have had an impact on teaching programs.

STUDENT HIGHLIGHTS
Congratulations to Year 12 student, Harrison K, for being promoted to CUO (Cadet Under Officer) in the Australian Air Force Cadets - 207 Squadron, earlier this year. This is the highest rank a cadet can achieve. Harrison has also completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh International Award and will attend the Gold Award Ceremony at Brisbane City Hall in July. An outstanding achievement. Well done, Harrison!
FROM PATHWAYS & PARTNERSHIPS
On Tuesday, 13 May, around 30 enthusiastic Year 9 and 10 Grammar students stepped behind the scenes of one of Australia’s most vital industries at the Sunshine Coast Careers in Health Day, hosted by the Sunshine Coast Health Institute. The day was organised by Head of Pathways, Wanda Hayes, with Pathways Counsellor Lauren Soden also attending to support students throughout the experience.
