PRIMARY NEWS

FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY

Acting Head of Primary, Mr Craig Angel

As we move into Week 6 of Term 2, we have seen a great deal of co-curricular highlights in the past few weeks.  In class, students are completing a number of their class assessments as we proceed into the reporting process at the completion of the term. Year 3 has completed a successful excursion and Year 4 has their Living History incursion next week, both of which add real-life experiences to their Science and Humanities learning.

It was wonderful to come together as a Primary School community last Sunday and attend the Primary Family Chapel Service. Thank you to Pastor Taylor for the uplifting service, to the Dolce Choir for an outstanding performance, and to those families who were able to join us for the afternoon.

This week, our Year 5 and 6 teams represented Grammar, competing in the State da Vinci Decathlon at Brisbane Boys’ College.  I am proud to report that our Year 6 team placed first in Creative Producers, performing to participants and visitors at the end of the day before the presentations.  Both teams competed admirably against stiff competition. We thank Mrs Brenda Gahan, Head of Extended Learning, for all her work preparing and supporting students for this exciting competition.

Camps and Excursions

A reminder to parents that we are no longer utilising EdSmart for Camps and Excursions permissions in the Primary School. To make communication between school and parents more streamlined, we have consolidated our communication, with all information and parent approval for Camps and Excursions now made available through Parent Lounge.

Parents will receive notifications when there is an event to approve. We ask that parents please check in on a regular basis to ensure all approvals are up to date.

Romp in the Forest

On Tuesday, 20 May, we welcomed our Kindy to Year 2 students for our 13th annual Romp in the Forest to celebrate our youngest learners. This year’s theme, “Science – Unleash the Scientific Thinking Through Play!”, invited our young explorers to dive into the fascinating world of discovery.

From twisting tornadoes to magnetic magic, we sparked imaginations and encouraged big questions from our smallest scientists. Thank you to all teachers and support staff who helped make the event such a success with engaging and inspiring activities for our students.
