GRAMMAR EARLY LEARNING CENTRE

We have had an amazing past 2 weeks at Grammar ELC! All our rooms were buzzing with creativity, cultural exploration and hands-on fun.
To celebrate Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi) in Japan on May 5th, our Kindy 2 kids enjoyed the sweet story of The Origami Heart. Inspired by its message, they made their own lovely heart-shaped origami. This special day in Japan is all about celebrating kids' health, happiness and growth. It was a wonderful way for us to dive into another culture and enjoy some creative fun.
In Toddler 2, the children’s love for animals led to a fantastic sensory adventure. The children created cool habitats using green sand for land animals and blue water with shells for sea animals. They had a blast sorting the animals and chatting about where they live and what makes them special. It was a fun and educational activity that sparked lots of great conversations and curiosity!
Nursery 2 took advantage of the beautiful autumn weather with some delightful outdoor dining. Morning tea under the open sky was a refreshing change and a perfect way to recharge for more fun learning experiences.
Meanwhile, Junior 2 had a flying start to their week! During indoor play, the children were drawing when they got the idea to turn their drawings into paper aeroplanes. They took their creations outside and had a blast racing them through the sky, giggling and practising their gross motor skills.
Our Kindy 3 friends were excited to play with a fresh batch of vibrant purple playdough! Playdough play is great for developing fine motor skills, language, creativity, and sensory exploration. With the help of some tools, the kids' imaginations soared as they rolled, chopped, made burgers, and even wrapped pretend presents.
We also took time to honour the servicemen and women on Anzac Day. Our Nursery and Kindy friends engaged in meaningful activities to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of those who served. Using fragrant rosemary, a symbol of remembrance from the Gallipoli peninsula. The kids created unique artworks by dabbing rosemary sprigs in green paint and printing onto silver paper. The results were beautiful, personal, and deeply expressive.
Weeks like these remind us just how much learning, discovery and heart can be packed into each day. From culture and commemoration to sensory play and spontaneous creativity, our children are growing and thriving with every experience.
