PRIMARY NEWS

FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY

Acting Head of Primary, Mr Craig Angel

Whilst the start of Term 2 has been a little disrupted with Public Holidays, it has still been very productive.  While there is always a strong focus on learning in the classrooms, there have been some great opportunities for students outside the classroom. The past two weeks alone have seen students competing or participating in da Vinci Decathlon, Year 3 Sea Life Excursion (see below a recount of the excursion by student Harry M), Sunshine Coast Independent Primary Heads Association (SCIPHA) Chess Tournament and the Japanese Children’s Day Assembly and activities. We extend our thanks to everyone who has been involved in planning and supervising students at these events.

Staffing

Mrs Kim Cordiner met with me recently to advise of her intention to retire from Sunshine Coast Grammar School, and will not be returning as the teacher of Prep AC. Mrs Cara Archer will remain as the Prep AC Classroom Teacher for Semester 2.  We thank Mrs Archer for continuing in this important role.

Mrs Cordiner will leave the school following 23 years as a Classroom Teacher.  We thank Mrs Cordiner for her dedicated commitment to Grammar and wish her all the best for the future.

Next week, as mentioned in an earlier newsletter, Mrs Rachelle Brutnell, Dean of Primary Prep to Year 2, will be taking leave for the remainder of Term 2. Mrs Jessica Richards will be covering her during this time. Mrs Elisha Curry will be teaching 1JR.

We wish Mrs Brutnell all the best for her leave.

Mother's Day Events

Thank you very much to the P&F and volunteers for our annual Mother’s Day Stall. Students loved the opportunity to independently select and purchase gifts for their mums.

Today, Prep to Year 2 mothers and friends were invited to a special afternoon celebrating the mothers and mother figures in our lives. Teachers and students welcomed our guests into their rooms for a range of activities, mostly directed towards spoiling our mums.

All the best to every mum this Sunday.
