FROM THE SCHOOL CHAPLAIN

Pastor Jon Taylor

I trust all our Mums have a relaxing and enjoyable day this Sunday. At Grammar, we certainly honoured and celebrated Mothers in a range of ways through our Assemblies, Chapels, Secondary Mother-Daughter Breakfast, Primary classroom visits and more. Acknowledging that it may be a challenging day for many because of loss, distance or other reasons, it is such a special day to pay respect and honour the wonderful part that mums play in our lives. Here are some Bible verses and quotes to encourage Mums and all of us.

‘She is clothed with strength and dignity and can laugh at the days to come’. (Proverbs 31:25)

‘As a mother comforts so I(God) will comfort you’. (Isaiah 66:13)

“The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation.” (James E. Faust)

“A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s.” (Princess Diana)

A Prayer for Mothers

Dear Lord Jesus,

We thank you for our Mums - for their guidance throughout life and their never-ending love and support. Thank you for watching over all mothers and may they know how much we appreciate the unconditional love, sacrifice, courage, guidance, and joy they bring to our lives every day. We think today of those Grammar families who are without their mothers and pray a special blessing on them that they would know your peace and comfort. Would you help all of us to strive to be like you and to live out our 2025 Bible verse and be people who are filled with hope, peace and love and joy.

We ask all of this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer from Secondary Mother-Daughter Breakfast – Zenna Pennay, School Vice-Captain

Dear God,

Thank you for this special morning and the chance to sit side by side, mothers and daughters. Thank you for the laughter we’ve shared, the hugs that healed, and the lessons passed down in quiet moments. We are grateful for the bond between a mother and daughter, a relationship that’s built on love, understanding, strength, and sometimes even challenge. Help us to celebrate the beauty of that connection today in every smile, story, and shared memory. May we always hold space for each other, and never take for granted how lucky we are to walk through life together.

Amen.
