At last week’s annual Scholar’s Day Assembly, I shared these words, ‘This morning we will celebrate and honour our 2024 Scholars and we will rightly honour academic excellence but also, we will see wonderful humans presented before us. Young people with fantastic futures ahead of them. Young people who have displayed honour and humility through their schooling life here at Grammar. Compassionate and caring people who will continue to live their lives with faith, hope and love displaying our school’s faith values. They are indeed amazing, but like you and me they are not perfect (though some academic results may have been 100% perfect), and the Bible tells us that there was only one person who ever got the perfect score for their life and character, and that is of course Jesus. And so all of us can be very relieved to know that we don’t have to get the perfect score in life because through saying yes to the invitation to have our hope in Jesus, we can have our past forgiven, present, empowered and future secured. 

As we pray together now, let’s be reminded that through faith in God, we can (as our 2025 verse and prayer says) have hope, peace, and joy.

God our Father, we thank and praise you for the opportunity this morning to stop and celebrate our Scholars and the wonderful memories of these past students as we celebrate their successes. May they blossom into a future filled with love, hope, joy, and peace. We ask you to help us all continue to make our school the wonderful Community it is, where excellence in all areas is honoured and celebrated, and where faith in action is at the helm of all that we do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.’
