SECONDARY NEWS
FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY
The school year is well underway and the last two weeks have been incredibly busy.
One of our signature events was the Grammar Life Expo which showcased the incredible variety of activities our students have available to them. The pleasing thing to witness was the number of students encouraging others to join these activities and speak to the benefits of getting involved in this important aspect of school life.
Following on from the expo was the first Open Day of the year. This saw continued interest from many prospective families who came in for the day to learn more about the great opportunities we provide at Sunshine Coast Grammar School.
Last Friday we welcomed back our scholars of 2024 to honour and recognise their achievements. Teagan Van Wyk spoke on behalf of the 2024 cohort highlighting the dedication and efforts of the staff in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for our students to excel. My congratulations go to James Luu our Dux for 2024.

This week we had the opportunity to recognise our senior students who have been appointed to leadership positions. These leaders have been rewarded for their passion and commitment to particular co-curricular aspects of the school community.
Our secondary House Swimming Carnival was a great success on Thursday, my congratulations to every student who put in their best on the day. The success of the day is firmly reliant upon the participation of the students, it was really pleasing to see so many students turn up and simply get in and have a go. House spirit and school pride were certainly on show for all to see. The Year 12 students led from the front all day, encouraging their peers and setting a great example for all to follow.
Finally, this weekend our musicians are off to their camp. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students involved in this program to bond and work on their musical talents. I want to thank the dedicated Music Staff and those who have volunteered to help ensure the students have a great experience.
